First OBX Weekend of the Summer :) June 11-13

I am happy to share that it was as awesome as always to get my feet back in that Outer Banks sand.. Thanks to early birthday celebrations for Courtney, we landed a weekend in our most fav spot - a family trip!
We spent the whole day on the beach where the kids enjoyed Callie's 'baby pool' and flying kites and where the sisters sipped on some Blue Hawaiian (Mom opted out)! The OCEAN was cold but we partook anyways! We spent time in the pool - where the babies swam, swam, swam.
Gordon and I went for an early breakfast (at THE PIER-- yumm!) on Saturday as Callie is an earlllllyy riser.
At 10 months old, Callie's trip to the beach was so different from her first trips to the beach (last year - at 2 weeks and 1 month old). This time she played in that SAND that she now loves so much!!

Saturday May 21 - Relay for Life

Again this year my team, Nan's Earth Angels, participated in fundraising efforts to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Saturday was the finale and WALK. It was a good run...

The county as a whole raised over $53,000. whooping the goal of $50,000. Shining Stars for a Cure was our theme this year. We remembered so many people that we had loved and lost and treasured the ones here with us that have battled the disease on our Stars. A theme from years ago has always stuck with me ~ Celebrate, Remember, and Fight Back..and that's what we do, FIGHT BACK!..It's the only occassion where I truly condone fighting...This year, I relayed for MOM, Aunt Sharon, Stacie, Paw-Paw, Nana, Uncle Kenny, Dennis, Tucker & all the families out there hit by cancer.. it seems to touch us all.

I enjoyed the LONG day with walks, friends, good conversations, playing with the kiddos and battling CANCER!

Friday May 21 ~ Sawyer Grant Stevens

Born in the wee hours on Friday May 21 @ 3:38 a.m., weighing 8.5.7 lbs, measuring 20.5 inches long, with a head covered with black hair, via cesarian TO MY best friend, Ashley, and her husband, Grant. I was so happy to share in the moments (not all so pretty) leading up to his birth and to see him just after! Congratulations good friends on your SWEET Baby Boy, Sawyer! You have so much love to give him and so many memories to make!

Callie's First Boating Day..

And I can't believe she was 9.5 months old when this happened. But let's face it, she was just a wee bit small for it last year. And after her Daddy meticulously researched her life jacket and bought her the best one out there made by Lil Mustangs, I do believe she was less than appreciative.. not fond of being constricted. Jezabelle was also not willing to give up her cocaptains seat..so we all shared, usually 3 to the seat. We visited with Buddy and GiGi and then cruised around the East River on a gorgeous day! Callie was asleep for the remainder the first good chance she got! ...oh well, there will be many, MANY, many more boating days to come!

Mothers Day..and Much More!

This past week on Cinco de Mayo, Gordon and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary.. and boy has the time flown, I still feel like that rainy day that brought my life so much sunshine was just yesterday. Our past year of marriage brought us our best gift yet, parenthood and Callie!

What a beautiful May weekend it was! Not too hot, wonderful breezes and sunshine!

We started the weekend with continued celebrations of Carrie's 30th Birthday...it was a big one because we celebrated it for three days! Friday Night Dinner at Mom's - she welcomed us with a flag reading 'Group Therapy' and displaying cocktails.. very fitting for our bunch!

On Saturday, we showered Ashley and Baby (Liam) to Be with some wonderfully adorable gifts. I visited with Rhonda for a few after her knee surgery..she was, as usual, in good spirits - and we are wishing her a speedy recovery... & then we continued the BDAY partying with a girl's night out - Happy Birthdays to Carrie, Stacey, & Erica - good times, many laughs.

Happy Mother's Day to all you Momma's out there! I had a very special first mother's day spent with so many of my wonderful family. Breakfast with the Penick's, Tatterson's for some flats with Cal, Jez, & G and then home to plant our first ever veggie garden (we'll see how that goes), and Dinner with Mom & the gang.

ATL

Well blog..it's been too long!

We traveled to Atlanta, Georgia this past weekend to celebrate in the marriage of Whitney Inglis and Taft Sanders. We had a terrific time seeing the beautiful city and The Sanders' Families. We brought quite the crowd - Ruthie, Buddy, William, Ashley, Gordon, Callie, Kelly (who cared for Callie) & myself flew down! Callie's first flight! She was super - not a peep on the way down or back; she mostly slept!

While visiting we enjoyed the rehearsal dinner at Magnolia Hall ~ Piedmont Park, The Georgia Aquarium, wedding at the beautiful First Presbyterian Church and reception at Ansley Golf Club...and we ate neverending good food everywhere we went!..

Callie especially enjoyed her pool time. At almost 9 months old, she was kicking away and would literally thrust herself from the side of the pool to get back in the water.

A wonderful weekend away :)
